Digitised and Driver-focused: Porsche Driver Experience
The Porsche Driver Experience, which was first seen in the Porsche Taycan, is designed to focus on the driver’s needs and optimise ease of use. Frequently used functions are located near the steering wheel, including the lever on the left which now has added functions for driver assistance systems. The gear selector is now on the dashboard, allowing for additional storage.
The cockpit includes a fully digital 12.6-inch instrument cluster with variable display options and a 12.3-inch central Porsche Communication Management display. There is also an optional 10.9-inch passenger display, allowing for an enriched passenger driving experience by showing separate performance data and providing additional access to the infotainment system controls.
Refined Design, Innovative Lighting Technology
The new Cayenne has a stylish and expressive appearance with a new front end, arched wings, and three-dimensionally designed taillights. It also has an expanded colour palette and offers lightweight sports packages and a range of 20, 21, and 22-inch wheels for customisation.
Matrix LED headlights come as standard with optional HD Matrix LED headlights available, integrating innovative technology to improve safety and comfort while driving. Additionally, an air quality system has been introduced, which detects tunnel entrances and filters fine dust particles and pollutants from the air. There are also new and improved assistance systems like the active speed limiter, swerve assist, cornering assist, and Porsche InnoDrive as part of the adaptive cruise control to help the driver in dangerous situations and traffic jams.
Ride Comfort and Performance
Porsche has upgraded the suspension system of their base Cayenne models with a steel spring suspension and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). The new shock absorbers have 2-valve technology which features separate rebound and compression stages, allowing optimisted performance in all driving situations.
The “S” models and above now come with an adaptive air suspension, providing a soft suspension, better stability, and easier handling on and off-road. This also improves driving precision, performance, and reduces body movements in dynamic driving situations. The suspension offers sharper differentiation between Normal, Sport, and Sport Plus driving modes.
Engine performance with improved hybrid efficiency
The new Cayenne SUV is now available in New Zealand with four different engine options. Both the Cayenne S and the Cayenne Turbo GT feature a refined 4-litre V8 bi-turbo engine, with maximum outputs of 349kW and 485kW respectively. These result in faster acceleration to 100km/h, 4.7 seconds for the Cayenne S and just 3.3 seconds for the Turbo GT. The entry-level Cayenne now has an improved 3-litre V6 turbo engine, with a maximum output of 260kW and a torque of 500Nm.
The Cayenne E-Hybrid uses the same six-cylinder engine as the base model petrol Cayenne, paired with a new 130kW electric motor. The combined output of 346kW is achieved via a high-voltage battery with an increased capacity of 25.9kWh, allowing for a pure electric range of up to 90km. A new 11kW on-board charger shortens the charging time to less than two and a half hours, and the vehicle’s efficiency is further increased with optimised e-hybrid driving modes.

WLTP is the new official EU test used to calculate standardised fuel consumption and CO₂ figures for passenger cars. It measures fuel, energy consumption, range and emissions. This is designed to provide figures closer to real-world driving behaviour. It tests vehicles with optional equipment and with a more demanding test procedure and driving profile. Figures are shown as a range under WLTP testing measures. The most economical figures refer to the most efficient/lightest set of options. A vehicle’s actual fuel consumption may differ from that achieved in such tests and these figures are for comparative purposes only.
3-WLTP figures are converted using official New Zealand Government calculators from official manufacturer’s NEDC tests in accordance with EU legislation.
