Archibalds Porsche Tech Morning 2026
On a crisp Christchurch winter morning, Archibalds Porsche welcomed members of Porsche Club New Zealand and customers into our Christchurch Centre for the annual Archibalds Porsche Tech Morning. An exclusive event dedicated to exploring the engineering, craftsmanship and expertise that sit behind every Porsche.
The Archibalds Porsche Tech Morning continues to grow in popularity each year, and 2026 marked our biggest event yet, welcoming more guests than ever before. Enthusiasts travelled from near and far to spend the morning with our team and fellow owners.
The event began with coffee and refreshments, with guests invited to help themselves throughout the morning as presentations and workshop demonstrations got underway.
Hosted by our certified Porsche Technicians and led by Service Manager James Morton, the event offers guests a rare opportunity to step behind the scenes of the workshop and gain a deeper understanding of the vehicles they love. More importantly, it provides a chance to meet the technicians who care for their cars every day. Their passion for Porsche is matched only by their technical expertise, and sharing that knowledge is what makes the morning so special.
This year’s event also featured a presentation from special guest Dr James Wilkes, whose Porsche Cayenne has become the centrepiece of countless overlanding adventures across New Zealand. James spoke about the modifications made to his Cayenne, the expeditions he has completed, and the journeys still to come. Accompanied by photos and videos from his travels, his presentation was both inspiring and a testament to the capability, durability and versatility of Porsche vehicles. Having entrusted Archibalds Porsche with work on his Cayenne over the years, his story also highlighted the importance of expert servicing and genuine Porsche parts in preparing a vehicle for whatever adventure lies ahead.
A highlight of the morning was the opportunity to see a selection of remarkable Porsche models up on the workshop hoists. James carefully selected a diverse lineup to showcase the technical evolution of Porsche engineering across generations.
Guests gathered around the all-electric Taycan, the track-focused Cayman GT4 RS and the iconic 944 Turbo, each revealing unique engineering solutions and design philosophies. Then came a surprise that delighted everyone in attendance: the legendary Carrera GT. Its appearance alone drew a crowd, but it was the unmistakable sound of its naturally aspirated V10 firing into life that became one of the morning’s standout moments.
As the presentations concluded, guests gathered once again over drinks and a spread of refreshments, taking the opportunity to ask questions, swap stories and continue conversations with our technicians and fellow enthusiasts.
The Archibalds Porsche Tech Morning remains one of our favourite events on the calendar. It’s a celebration of curiosity, engineering and community, where every guest leaves having learned something new and with an even greater appreciation for the cars we all love.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, including Dr James Wilkes, and to our incredible team for making the morning possible. We look forward to welcoming you back next year.
