The 2024 Māia Health Foundation Feast, Presented by Archibalds
For the third year in a row, Archibalds was proud to be the naming partner with Māia Health for their annual fundraising Feast Gala. This followed the past two hugely successful events in 2023 and 2022.
It was an outstanding evening with delicious food crafted from local Canterbury produce, competitive bidding for exceptional prizes, and overall, a remarkable amount raised.
A Remarkable Community Initiative
Over 300 people filled Christchurch’s iconic Town Hall on Saturday night to come together as a community, embracing its influence, and cultivating support to buy a new internal transport incubator for Christchurch NICU.
A wonderful evening was had by all, guests donning black tie were treated to dedicated Māia Health ambassadors Mike McRoberts and Jason Gunn hosting the night, and a delicious gourmet dinner by renowned local chef Dan Shanks.
An incredible scene had been set by Kim Chan Events, entertainment provided by the Curio Club band and talented local violin soloist, Leo Liu. Māia Health was proud to announce the completion of their major project, Kahurangi, and unveil their new initiative with the Christchurch NICU.
Every Breath Counts
A NICU, or Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, is a lifeline for newborn babies that face critical health challenges. Providing specialised care for premature infants, and those with surgical, congenital, and medical complications.
Currently in Christchurch we have a fleet of five transport incubators. However, at over 13 years old each, they are well past their expected lifespan and frequently need repairs and maintenance to keep up with the demand of their use.
The Feast Gala successfully raised over $200,000 through ticket sales and the generosity of those who participated in the auction. This significant contribution directly supports Māia Health’s purchase of a new internal transport incubator for the NICU. It was an especially meaningful moment for the Christchurch NICU unit as they watched the auction process via a livestream on FaceTime.
Championing Māia Health
As naming partner for the event, we are extremely proud to continue supporting Māia Health and be part of the fundraising efforts. The opportunity to partner with Māia is an easy choice to make, as it allows us to foster a long-term relationship with an organisation working on a cause close to our heart. The difference Māia makes is long-lasting and widespread across not just Canterbury, but New Zealand, and we are proud to play our part in supporting this incredible organisation. We want to thank everyone not only for their attendance but generosity on the night at the Feast Gala.
“It’s a privilege to stand before you this evening as we come together in support of such a worthy cause. Christchurch will forever be, a work in progress. It’s why the Māia creed – from good to great – resonates so resolutely amongst this room. It’s an acknowledgement that this Foundation and our city can always be better and that’s why we are so proud to have our name sit alongside that of the Māia Health Foundation.
In tough economic times, our obligations to our customers and staff become more critical. It’s an obligation business leaders should not shirk away from. We are proud to continue the legacy at Archibalds of a business owned by just three Christchurch families in its more than 100 years of service to this community. We are proud to employ 80 staff within Archibalds and over 500 nationally, within the Miles Group network. And we are proud to represent brands at the forefront of innovation and design in this fast-changing world.
I would like to thank the magnificent Māia team for their tireless work in putting together an evening like tonight.”
