Waiheke Whisky & Waiheke Brewing Co and their Land Rovers

Waiheke Whisky recently tagged our Archibalds Land Rover Instagram profile (@archibaldslandrover) in their Instagram post showing their classic Land Rover Series I, so we had to reach out for more info!

Waiheke Whisky are award-winning whiskey producers. In their words, “Over 10 years, using just 3 ingredients, we’ve produced a whisky we’re very proud of, and like all good things, it keeps getting better.”

Meanwhile, Waiheke Brewing Co brew the most summery of all beers, a crisp, refreshing lager. Made of sparkling artesian water from the island, natural yeast and all grain malt, Mark Hindmarsh wanted the first beer they brewed to reflect the beautiful island from which it came from.

The Heke is Waiheke Island’s newest destination. Its 8-acre site is home to The Heke Kitchen, and also the brand-new brewery and distillery of Waiheke Whisky and the Waiheke Brewing Co.

Waiheke Whisky directors Mark Izzard and Richard Evatt are Christchurch originals (with Mark also being a Christ’s College ‘old boy’).

The two families behind the venture are mad about Land Rovers. Waiheke Whisky’s 1978 Land Rover 88 is a newly-refitted flatbed workhorse with tan leather and new carpets, and Waiheke Brewing Co’s 1965 Land Rover is called ‘TREV’ (Thirst Responder Emergency Vehicle) which is equipped with kegs and taps so visitors can be served a cold Heke lager in style!
