Ryan Morris and his Land Rover Discovery 2
New Zealand overlanding enthusiast Ryan Morris (@whitewater_dreamtime) recently tagged our Archibalds Land Rover Instagram profile (@archibaldslandrover) in a shot of his Discovery 2 doing what it does best. We responded to ask if he was happy for us to share the photo on our profile but then, on viewing the rest of his photos, we quickly realised this was worth so much more than a repost!
Ryan has owned a number of 4×4 vehicles over the years that he’s modified to better suit his thirst for adventure in the South Island’s great outdoors, including hiking and mountain biking. His current vehicle, this manual 2002 Land Rover Discovery 2 TD5, is no exception.
Ryan’s lifted and snorkled D2 is equipped with a Front Runner roof rack suitable for kayaks while also hosting his Darche 180° awning for nights under the stars… not to mention a shovel for that true overlanding look!
More recent additions include a custom winch bar ready for its winch – with thanks to Freds Fabrication in Nelson (@fredsfabrication) – plus STEDI fog lights.
The rear often hosts a bike rack to take his Rocky Mountain bike (and up to four other bikes) into the bush.
Not one to sit still, you’ll often find Ryan and his Discovery on the trails throughout the South Island.
And with a vehicle like this, you can’t blame him!
