New Zealand’s best plug-in hybrid SUV

We’re thrilled to hear that the Audi Q5 TFSI e has been crowned the AA Driven Best in Class Plug-in Hybrid SUV for 2023. A very relevant category for those in the market for a new vehicle, these prestigious awards are voted on by industry leaders and this accolade clearly reflects Audi’s commitment to industry-leading design, performance, and quality.

Competing against a myriad of other vehicles in the highly-competitive plug-in hybrid SUV segment, the Audi Q5 TFSI e came out on top to be awarded AA Driven’s Best In Class PHEV for 2023 with judges commenting that:

“…we’re blown away by how clever the highly finessed PHEV technology underneath this car is. The Q5 is the first EV to employ Audi’s Ultra quattro technology, which is much more proactive and can even decouple the rear axle for improved efficiency. The PHEV system has a  predictive efficiency assistant (PEA) that can adjust the regenerative braking according to different factors, including how close you are to the vehicle in front or even whether there’s a roundabout coming up. All without the driver having to do a thing.”

Commenting on the win, Audi General Manager Greeg Leet shared:

“This car has huge appeal. The Q5 has been a standard-bearer in the premium midsize SUV market for over 10 years due to its progressive design and functional performance. Now with the addition of Audi’s new plug-in hybrid technology and e quattro system, drivers can do the lion’s share of their daily driving more efficiently. We are thrilled to hear that this has been recognised in the AA DRIVEN Car Guide NZ awards. Kiwis have shown that they are drawn to its combination of practicality, luxury, style, comfort, and performance. *WLTP is the new official EU test used to calculate standardised fuel consumption and CO₂ figures for passenger cars. It measures fuel, energy consumption, range and emissions. This is designed to provide figures closer to real-world driving behaviour. It tests vehicles with optional equipment and with a more demanding test procedure and driving profile. Figures are shown as a range under WLTP testing measures. The most economical figures refer to the most efficient/lightest set of options.
