Recently, one of our Audi SQ6 e-tron models was put to the test on a winter run up Mt Hutt. As expected, it passed with flying colours. Confident, capable, and fully electric, the SQ6 proved it’s not just built for urban life, it’s made for real Kiwi adventures.

The SQ6 e-tron blends electric power with Audi’s legendary quattro capability, and Mt Hutt’s alpine roads provided the perfect setting to experience both. With 360kW of power (boosting to 380kW in launch mode) and 0–100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds, the SQ6 didn’t just get up the mountain, it owned it.
And with a WLTP range of up to 590km*, there’s more than enough distance on offer to make it from Christchurch to the slopes and back with charge to spare. Whether it’s the daily drive or a high-altitude adventure, the SQ6 delivers performance without compromise.
Practical Meets Premium
Heated seats, ample boot space for skis and gear, and a refined, quiet cabin meant the journey was as comfortable as it was confident. The adaptive air suspension made easy work of icy roads and uneven surfaces, proving that this SUV is ready for more than just the daily commute.
EV Confidence, Even in the Cold
The cold and batteries don’t always go hand in hand, but the SQ6 e-tron’s 100kWh battery with intelligent thermal management, and preconditioning kept range anxiety at bay. After a full day of driving and skiing, there was plenty of charge to get back down and home again, no compromises required.
The SQ6’s thermal management system actively regulates the battery’s temperature, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency, even in sub-zero environments. The Q6 e-tron range underwent extensive testing in extreme conditions, including deep snow and icy terrain in northern Sweden, to ensure it performs reliably in all climates.
