Pricing released on new Audi plug-in hybrid models.

We’ve just received pricing and specification sheets for the Audi Q7 TFSI e and the Audi Q8 TFSI e, two exciting new plug-in hybrid additions to the Audi range.

The Q7 TFSI e 60 quattro and Q8 TFSI e 60 quattro share a power train consisting of a 3.0 TFSI engine coupled with a permanently excited synchronous motor (PSM) integrated into the 8-speed Tiptronic transmission. The 3.0 TFSI V6 engine alone is capable of 250 kW of power and 450 Nm of torque. When combined with the hybrid module the total system output reaches 340 kW of power and 700 Nm of torque.

The power for the electric motor is supplied by a liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery that is positioned under the luggage compartment floor and provides an energy capacity of 17.3 kWh. Its 168 prismatic cells are divided into 14 modules that lie on top of each other on two levels.

This battery allows the Q7 TFSI e to achieve up to 54 km of emissions-free EV driving on a single charge, more than enough to cover the less than 40 km of driving the average New Zealander travels a day. The Q8 TFSI e range is to be confirmed for New Zealand but will be communicated soon.
