Archibalds Audi Hosts VIP F1® Watch Party for Audi’s Formula 1® Debut

Sunday, 8 March will be etched into the history books as the day Audi made its highly anticipated debut in Formula 1®. Race 1 took place at Melbourne’s Albert Park Circuit for the Australian Grand Prix. Here in Christchurch, New Zealand, we brought the excitement to our showroom with a VIP watch party for our valued Archibalds Audi customers.

It was a magical day, with temperatures reaching about 26°C, so it could have been Australia. Inside the showroom, with the aircon keeping everyone cool, we set the stage. A gradient of bean bags, tables and chairs, and bar leaners faced a huge LED screen, ensuring every guest had the best seat in the house.

Doors opened at 4pm for the 5pm race start, and guests arrived throughout the hour, greeted by an impressive display of iconic Audi models. From the legendary Quattro to a high-performance Audi R8 LMS GT3, our lineup had something to delight every automotive enthusiast.

After collecting their customised lanyards, guests helped themselves to drinks, with options ranging from fine wines and beers to refreshing non-alcoholic beverages. To celebrate Audi’s German heritage, Fritz’s Wiener provided delicious catering, keeping everyone fuelled for the big race.

The action did not stop on-screen. Guests were invited to test their skills on a racing simulator customised to the Albert Park Circuit, giving them a taste of the same challenge the drivers faced during the race.

Adding to the atmosphere, we showcased exclusive Audi x adidas F1® merchandise, available for guests to view and purchase, letting everyone take a piece of the experience home.

When the lights went down and the race began, the showroom buzzed with excitement. Audi delivered a thrilling debut, with Gabriel Bortoleto securing 9th place and setting the tone for an exciting season ahead.
