The Ultimate All-Rounder: All-New Audi A6 allroad Price & Specs

If there is one car that has always made complete sense for the South Island, it is the Audi A6 allroad. It is the original alternative to the classic luxury SUV, delivering executive wagon comfort on the highway, with enough clearance and grip to tackle gravel backroads, riverbeds, and ski field runs without breaking a sweat.

Now in its fifth generation, the new A6 allroad is broader, sharper, and significantly more capable. Factory orders are officially open at Archibalds Audi in Christchurch, with the first vehicles landing in New Zealand in February 2027.

Here is what you need to know about the newest addition to the lineup.

Unmatched Scale and Road Presence

The first thing that hits you is the stance. The new allroad is 11 centimetres wider than before, giving it an aggressive, planted look.

Audi has not held back on the standard trim either. It lands in New Zealand riding on 21-inch Audi Sport alloy wheels, framed by signature allroad body cladding, distinct wheel arch trims, and integrated roof rails. It looks every bit the rugged cross-country cruiser.

Air Suspension Built for NZ Conditions

Standard adaptive air suspension gives the allroad its split personality, adjusting overall ride height by up to 55 millimetres depending on where you are driving:

  • Heading off-grid: Engage offroad or offroad+ mode, and the chassis raises by 15 millimetres to clear rougher ground and tracks.
  • Highway cruising: Drop it into dynamic mode, and the body automatically lowers by 20 millimetres to reduce drag, hug the road, and tidy up cornering.
  • Traction & agility: Standard quattro all-wheel drive handles greasy roads or winter frost, while rear-wheel steering makes a big wagon feel surprisingly light on its feet when parking around town.

Triple-Electrified V6 Diesel Power

Under the bonnet is a 3.0-litre V6 TDI producing 220 kW and 580 Nm of torque, pushing the wagon from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds.

The real party trick is Audi’s new mHEV+ system. Alongside traditional turbocharging, it runs an electric compressor that builds boost instantly at low revs. In short, expect zero turbo lag, instant pull off the mark, and better open-road fuel economy.

Intelligent Tech Inside and Out

Audi’s high-end lighting and interior gear come standard on this generation:

  • Smart Headlights: Digital Matrix LED headlights feature eight selectable daytime running light designs and can project safety graphics (like lane guidance lines and ice warnings) directly onto the tarmac.
  • Long-Distance Comfort: Standard Sport Seats Plus feature built-in seat ventilation for summer and massage functions for long drives across the island.
  • Passenger Tech & Audio: Front passengers get their own dedicated MMI touchscreen display, while a 3D Bang & Olufsen sound system includes speakers built right into the headrests.
  • Luggage Space: The rear cargo area comes fitted with an adjustable rail system and load-securing kit for gear, bags, or sports kit.
