First Look at the New Audi A2 e-tron
The most efficient model in the brand’s history, the all-new Audi A2 e-tron combines clever design to maximise interior space and comfort, with the slipperiest aerodynamic shape in the compact segment for a triumph of form and function.
Audi has revived an iconic name for the electric age. The all-new Audi A2 e-tron combines a compact footprint with clever design, impressive efficiency and the technology you would expect from Audi.
Set to be one of the most efficient models Audi has ever produced, the A2 e-tron can consume as little as 12.8 kWh per 100km and offer up to 646km of WLTP range, depending on the model and specification.
Designed around efficiency
Every detail of the A2 e-tron has been designed with efficiency in mind. Its distinctive teardrop shape gives it a drag coefficient of just 0.24, making it the most aerodynamic vehicle in the compact segment.
Electric door handles, aerodynamic wheels, tight panel gaps and carefully shaped bodywork all contribute to its impressive efficiency. The focus on aerodynamics also helps create a quieter cabin, with refined door seals, mirrors and other details designed to reduce wind noise.
The A2 e-tron will be available in Europe with four power outputs, ranging from 125kW and 350Nm through to 240kW and 545Nm, with power sent to the rear wheels. Battery options include 52kWh, 61kWh and 84kWh.
Small outside, spacious inside
Despite its compact dimensions and 2.77-metre wheelbase, the A2 e-tron makes clever use of its interior space.
The cabin features Audi’s clean, considered design, with a soft fabric-covered Softwrap extending across the dashboard and into the doors. Practical storage is found throughout, including space for large drink bottles and everyday essentials.
The boot offers 396 litres with the rear seats upright, expanding to 1,336 litres with them folded.
Inside, the standard MMI panoramic display combines an 11.9-inch Audi virtual cockpit plus with a 12.8-inch curved MMI touch display. An optional augmented reality head-up display can project navigation and other information directly into the driver’s field of view.
Audi technology, in a compact format
The A2 e-tron brings technology usually associated with Audi’s larger models into a smaller package. Features include advanced driver assistance and safety systems, Matrix LED headlights, sophisticated connectivity and optional Sonos premium sound with 14 speakers and 660 watts of amplifier power.
Its e-tron route planner can also factor in traffic, road conditions and charging station availability, helping plan charging stops and prepare the battery for optimal charging.
The A2 e-tron also supports bidirectional charging, including Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), allowing the vehicle to power compatible electrical devices directly.
A familiar name, reimagined
The A2 name has a history of innovation. The original Audi A2, launched in 2000, was ahead of its time with its lightweight aluminium construction, aerodynamic shape and focus on efficiency.
More than two decades later, Audi is bringing the name back with the same focus, reimagined for an all-electric future.
The Audi A2 e-tron is due to launch in Europe by the end of 2026 and is currently under evaluation for Australia. Further details on potential availability in New Zealand are yet to be confirmed.
For now, the A2 e-tron offers an intriguing look at how Audi is approaching the next generation of compact electric vehicles: efficient, practical and unmistakably Audi.
