The All-New Audi Q9: Redefining Luxury at the Top of the Range

Audi has officially unveiled its new crown jewel: the Audi Q9.

Positioned above the iconic Q7, the first-ever Q9 is the largest, most luxurious SUV Audi has ever built. Designed to be a mobile living space, it merges presence, grand interior proportions, and state-of-the-art vehicle technology into a flagship package built for total comfort.

Whether you’re cruising through the city or packing up for a weekend getaway into the high country, the Q9 sets a new benchmark for full-size luxury SUVs.

Unmatched Scale and Road Presence

Measuring 5.31 metres in length, 1.81 metres high, and riding on a generous 3.14-metre wheelbase, the Q9 commands attention.

  • Bold Styling: An assertive front fascia features a broad Singleframe grille, available in prestigious Advanced or sportier S line exterior trim.
  • World-First OLED Tech: At the rear, 3D curved digital OLED taillights flow smoothly with the car’s tail contours, enhancing visibility while making a distinctive visual statement.
  • Smart Ground Projections: Approach the vehicle at night, and side-projectors welcome you with an unrolling carpet of light, alongside turn signals that project visual indicators directly onto the road.
  • Striking Wheels: Alloy options range up to 23 inches, complete with acoustic foam-lined tyres to keep cabin noise down to a whisper on coarse roads.

Audi Q9 interior

Inside: A First-Class Cabin

Step inside, and it becomes clear why Audi describes the Q9 as a “mobile living space.” With generous legroom across all three rows, it accommodates family trips and long-distance road trips effortlessly.

  • 6- or 7-Seat Versatility: Choose a standard seven-seat layout—with ISOFIX child-seat anchors on all second-row seats—or opt for the exclusive six-seat “business class” configuration featuring individual electrically adjustable second-row captain’s chairs.
  • Automatic Doors: For the first time, automatic doors with obstacle detection stop before bumping into surrounding objects, closing gently via soft-close technology or remotely through the myAudi app.
  • Panoramic Glass Roof: The largest panoramic roof ever fitted to an Audi measures over 1.5 square metres. It features optional switchable transparency and ambient light syncing.
  • Immersive 4D Audio: An available 22-speaker, 1360W Bang & Olufsen sound system includes headrest speakers for distraction-free calls and sub-seat actuators that subtly vibrate in sync with the bass for a live-concert sensation.

Tech and Cockpit Design

Up front, the Audi MMI panoramic curved display pairs a 12.3-inch Audi Virtual Cockpit with a 14.5-inch MMI touch display. Front passengers also enjoy their own dedicated 12.3-inch display featuring privacy mode to prevent driver distraction.

Powered by Android Automotive OS, the system runs native apps without requiring a connected smartphone, while self-learning voice controls with ChatGPT integration allow intuitive, hands-free vehicle management.

Performance Built for New Zealand Roads

At launch, the Q9 is powered by a smooth 3.0-litre V6 TDI powerplant, offered in two output tunes: 220kW (630Nm) and 180kW (500Nm).

Both engines feature Audi’s MHEV plus (Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle) system alongside an electric-powered compressor to deliver dynamic low-end boost (3.6 bar in just 1.2 seconds) for smooth, effortless overtaking. Mated to an eight-speed tiptronic transmission and legendary quattro all-wheel drive, the Q9 delivers surefooted stability regardless of the weather.
