Inside the technology: Highlights from our Porsche Tech Night 2024

Last night, Archibalds Porsche hosted an exclusive Tech Night, giving our customers an opportunity to dive deeper into the cutting-edge technologies and meticulous craftsmanship that define the Porsche experience. The evening focused on the advanced processes behind vehicle alignment, calibration, and the intricate systems that ensure every Porsche delivers its renowned driving performance.

Behind the Scenes: Wheel Alignment and Assistance Systems

One of the highlights of the night was a workshop presentation led by our skilled Porsche technicians. Fabian, one of our technicians, explained the importance of performing a full four-corner wheel alignment to ensure the vehicle tracks perfectly straight. This alignment lays the foundation for Porsche’s superior handling and performance.

The demonstration continued with Jesse showcasing the sophisticated tooling and equipment used to calibrate the vehicle’s assistance systems. From lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control to surround view cameras, every system was calibrated to Porsche’s exact specifications. This precision guarantees that these systems function seamlessly without unnecessary intervention, preserving the unparalleled Porsche driving experience.

Our alignment and calibration equipment is Porsche-certified, meeting the brand’s precise tolerances. Using a 3D wheel alignment system equipped with high-resolution digital cameras, our technicians create a three-dimensional image of the reflectors attached to the vehicle’s wheels. The vehicle’s suspension and steering are then meticulously adjusted, followed by the calibration of any assistance systems.

These processes are essential not only for routine maintenance but also after windscreen replacements or panel repairs. It was fascinating to see the attention to detail and expertise that goes into maintaining the standards Porsche is known for.
