An Evening with Tina Duncan, Hosted by Archibalds Land Rover
We were thrilled to recently host renowned New Zealand cook, caterer, entrepreneur, and cooking school tutor Tina Duncan in our showroom. In honour of Tina’s latest culinary cookbook, Plated, valued guests were invited to enjoy delectable canapés, locally crafted gin, and an enlightening Q&A with Tina and her daughter Katie. Read on to learn more and view photos from the evening.
Canapés and premium gin pairings
Upon arriving, guests were invited to indulge in canapés curated straight from the pages of Tina’s book, Plated. These paired perfectly with a selection of locally crafted servings of Elsewhere Gin, with each flavour inspired by the beauty of various locations throughout New Zealand.
Whilst enjoying the delicacies, attendees purchased personalised signed copies of Plated, alongside a limited edition candle crafted by Archibalds’ friend Nevé. Perfectly capturing the scent of Tina’s Negroni Tart (which graces the cover of Plated), we’re told it’s the perfect accompaniment to any dinner party – particularly if you’re whipping up Tina’s Negroni Tart.
Q&A with Tina Duncan
After enjoying drinks and nibbles, Tina and her daughter Katie engaged in an enlightening and entertaining Q&A, sharing everything from Tina’s top cooking tips, catering stories, to her favourite food memories. As we head into the season of entertaining and cooking for loved ones, Tina graciously shared a few of her top tips to ensure your next dinner party, date night, or summer celebration are a success.
Tina’s top tips:
- Cook new potatoes in boiling water, and old potatoes in cold water.
- Chilly bins double as an oven, and are perfect for keeping your plates warm. Simply heat them in the oven, wrap them in towels, and place them in your chilly bin.
- Of any gadget you could have in your kitchen, two of the most important are a digital scale and digital thermometer.
- Find more of Tina’s tips in Plated.
At the conclusion of the Q&A we gave away a genuine Land Rover umbrella and drink bottle, plus a Nevé candle.
Thank you
The team at Archibalds Land Rover want to thank first and foremost our valued guests for spending their evening with us, White Tie Catering for the delicious canapés (cooked from recipes in Tina’s book, Plated), and Tina for sharing your wisdom, hilarious stories, and cooking tips and tricks with us.

“A lifetime love affair with food has finally culminated in this outstanding new cookbook from renowned New Zealand cook and caterer, Tina Duncan. In “Plated” learn how to cook for others for maximum effect and minimal stress, ensuring you spend less time in the kitchen and more time with your guests.”
Elsewhere Gin, Locally Crafted Regional Gins
Shop hand-crafted Gins inspired by regional New Zealand locations (including North Canterbury and Little River).
“In capturing the taste and aroma of unique places, Elsewhere gin follows the winemaking concept of terroir. While we go back to our favourite places to gather botanicals to make further batches, they will express the character of different seasons and years, much like vintage wine. We usually forage for botanicals together – often while on holiday enjoying the natural environment with our family and friends – so we have a personal connection to the places on each label. This makes our gin totally unique and unlike anything else you’ll find on the shelves of your favourite cocktail bar or fine spirits store.”
